Understanding Weak Froth
Froth quality depends on air intake and milk temperature. A blocked air hole, wet steam, or milk that is too warm produces thin, watery foam. The wand angle also matters: the tip must sit just below the surface so it pulls air in while the milk swirls.
Universal Troubleshooting Steps
These steps work across all major brands:
- Purge the steam wand before frothing to clear condensation.
- Clean the air hole on the frothing nozzle with the cleaning pin.
- Use cold whole milk and start with the tip just below the surface.
- Tilt the jug and lower it slowly as the milk expands; stop below 65°C.
